Rare double gold eagle coins offer two types of investment potential.  The first is based off of the value of gold bullion.  The second is numismatic value.  Gold Double Eagle coins can be scarce in certain conditions.  By looking to buy Mint State Double Eagle gold coins, you have the luxory of knowing that the value of double eagle gold coins will never drop below the value of gold, but you get the extra luxory of owning an asset that might appreciate in value based on collector demand.

I really like Mint State Double Gold Eagle coins in the MS-61, MS-62 and MS-63 range.  These gold coins often trade at gold spot prices but if you hold them for the long term, demand for these coins could push the price of these Mint State coins much higher than the gold spot prices.  That is the beauty of these double gold eagle coins.
