Selling gold jewelry is no mean task. People ask many questions both to themselves as well as to their friends and acquaintances on how to sell gold jewelry. The most common problem faced by people interested in selling gold jewelry is finding the right price and the right venue for sales.

The best strategy to deal with this issue is to adopt a relaxed approach. Customers should not panic and should not sell their gold items based on quick decisions. Another important fact to keep in mind is to stay away from selling gold jewelry at its scrap value. Scrap value is the actual value of gold used, excluding the craftsmanship, design and elegance of the item for sale.

The more pragmatic approach is the ascertainment and appreciation of the item for sale. Professional appraisal services are available both in the gold markets and on the internet. Experts recommend going for the gold jewelry online option.

Under this option, people do not have to seek the services of a professional appraiser. They can skip this step and move directly to internet. There are many websites that have detailed guidelines on appraising the real worth of a gold item. They also display the latest gold prices and other features of the gold market. Customers can seek their service to appraise their jewelry. The process is also safer as they need to send the photos of their jewelry items instead of taking the actual item to a professional. A cautious approach is needed in selling jewelry items and a carefully planned strategy will ultimately bear fruit.

The Spot Gold Price 2010 will start above $1000 an ounce for the new year. The beginning of the month of December say the spot price of gold was near $1225 an ounce. But by the end of the month, it went down to $1091 on December 29 and was still falling.

Since 1971, the price of gold has risen and fallen but since breaking the $200 mark around 1979, it has stayed above it. Since 2001, gold has been on a steady increase with just a few small bumps along the way.

The end of December is seeing gold futures edging lower but a weak dollar has helped keep prices up. Uncertainty still remains in the minds of most investors. The recent financial fiasco from Abu Dhabi is just another reason for worry. With no true measure to track the direction of the world’s economies, uneasy investors are still relying heavily on gold for a solid investment. This has been shown with a rise in the value of gold by 24% in the year 2009 alone.

This has been the trend for the past decade. Since December 30, 1999 with the price of gold at $289, investors have seen solid gains. At the end of December the chairman of GFMS Ltd in London, Philip Klapwijk, has predicted that gold prices will drop to about $970 an ounce in the new year due to a strengthening dollar.

The American dollar is the key to which way the gold market will go. The Spot Gold Price 2010 will follow it closely. The stronger the dollar, the lower the price of gold will be.

While there are a lot of articles about investing in gold, they usual refer to stocks, futures, and abstract, “paper gold,” rather than real, hold-it-in-your-hands gold. The ones that do focus on coins usually talk about collecting, not investing–and there’s a big difference. So we here at Gold Prices Today Live thought we should bridge the gap and show you how you can invest in gold with gold coins.

This is the first in a 3-part series on this subject. With this article, we’ll get into the basics of gold coin investing in a generic sense–how beginner gold coin investing can help you. Later, we’ll look at specific coin types.

Beginner Gold Coin Investing
Gold is an extremely popular investment tool because of its static value, its beauty, its cultural meaning to most of us, and because it’s a universal currency accepted world wide. Most of us who use gold coin investing (rather than collecting) purchase what are commonly called “rounds.”

These are gold coins of specific size and quality, but made in such large quantities that they have almost no collector’s value and are valued almost entirely for their non-numismatic content alone. Literally every major nation in the world produces gold rounds of one type or another.

These are usually in specific sizes: 1 ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce, and 1/10 ounce. Some make all of those sizes, some only a few of those sizes. When gold coin investing, make sure that the coin you’re considering is 24k and not an alloy mix. This greatly effects value. Most gold rounds will be priced at just above the current market price for gold bullion.

These rounds will usually be in plastic sleeves, so beginner gold investing enthusiasts often put them into albums. This is fine, but storage space is often an issue and since these are not collectible coins, they don’t need to be kept in perfect shape (aka “uncirculated”). So many will take their coins out of sleeves and stack them in cylindars to compact them and save space.

Whatever you do, make sure you have a safe place to keep your beginner gold coin investing fruits. The largest down side to investing in physical gold is that it’s imminently portable, so theft is a big concern. A secure location (safe deposit box, large, bolted safe, etc.) is paramount.

Next, we’ll talk about American Eagle gold rounds for investing.

Anyone who knows about gold investing, especially on the short term, knows that the spot gold price is where it’s at for determining your buy/sell and return on investment (ROI). For those who aren’t familiar with gold bullion spot price investing, it’s similar to other spot price investing for other commodities or market share. It’s a fast-paced, real-time buying and selling based on the current gold bullion spot price.

So if you purchase gold in the morning, say, at the spot price of $900/ounce and watch the market closely during the day, you might sell that at the closing spot gold price of $950/ounce on a really good day. Gold bullion spot price investing can take place over a few hours, a single day, a week, or even a month. Since gold reliably rises in value over time, you’re not likely to lose out on your investment except with short-term drops (that usually recover).

Let’s look at an example of spot gold price investing and how it can pay off over the short-term. At the end of February on the 20 th of the month, the gold bullion spot price was $928 per ounce. A week later, at the end of the month, the spot gold price hit a plateau at $967 per ounce that lasted from the end of day on the 25 th until the first day of March. That’s a $39 increase that held for a considerable amount of time in the spot price world.

While not as common or as popular as other types of spot price investing, gold bullion spot price investing is gaining a following, especially in today’s widely fluctuating market. If you’re looking for some excitement and wonder what you can do, you mgiht consider trying spot gold price investing and see how much fun it can be. Profitable too, of course!

Like any type of investing, this is not for everyone, but gold bullion spot price investing can be lucrative and engaging for those who enjoy it.
